Recently RST went back to school to fix the leaking roofs on Coton Green Primary School, Tamworth.
The school estates manager called us wanting to refurbish the roof. The roof was leaking and there were some old roof lights that were no longer being used. The customer asked for the rooflights to be removed. The roof was to several classrooms and the Library so was to be in use constantly.
Firstly we had to get a safety scaffold erected to make sure that we were safe and also the general public. Once the scaffolding was erected we proceeded to start work.
There was several roof lights on the roof that were no longer being used. We dismantled the roof lights, fitted new joists where required, boarded with structural moisture resistant OSB3 boards and insulated ready for the new waterproofing.
Instead of stripping the existing torch on felt off, we was asked to go over the top with the new waterproof felt membranes. We swept off the debris from the roof before priming to help the new felt roofing stick to the old. Our qualified operatives then applied a 2mm torch on underlay felt followed by a 4.5mm black mineral torch on Capsheet. All edging details were also finished in the same material.
This roofing system carries our standard 15 year manufacturers guarantee.
