One of the jobs we did this week was this little residential flat roof replacement in Belgrave, Tamworth. The customer had called to say that they had a leak to their bedroom roof and required a roof repair. On investigations it was observed that the roof had previously been repaired, to a fashion, by what the customer now believes to be cowboys. They had used felt shingles, designed to be on a sloped roof, nailed them down puncturing the existing membrane several times and then covering the roof with bitumen paint. Unfortunately, the customer was not able to gain access to see what they had done. Also, the previous roofers charged nearly twice the amount to repair the roof than we charged to replace it.
We stripped off the old built up felt roof waterproofing to reveal the timber deck. Due to the leaks the plywood was wet but still in good shape. We dried off the board and applied a 2mm torch on underlay felt followed by a 4.5mm torch on polyester mineral cap sheet with all edge details to match. This specification boasts a 15 year manufacturers guarantee.
