We got called out recently to quote this new flat roof to the Function room at Warton Club, Warton, just outside Tamworth.
The roof had been leaking for many years and there had been multiple attempts to cure the leaks.
Following a competitive tender process where the club had several quotations, they awarded RST with the contract to replace the whole flat roof.
We proceeded by getting the roof scaffolded to allow safe access and a safe working environment to comply with the Working at Height Regulations 2005.
We started by stripping off a section of the old roofing felt to reveal the 50mm Strammet Straw Board. Strammet board was used about 60 years ago and it was a form of roofing board with insulation properties.
The exposed roof joists were denailed and a 100mm celotex insulation board was applied to create a warm roof structure.
We then screwed 18mm OSB3 moisture resistant structural boards, fixed through the insulation into the joists to create a solid deck.
All of the rainwater went into a valley at the bottom end of the roof and down the outlet into the building before coming back outside. We didn’t like the water going into the building, so we core drilled the brickwork and installed 3 new outlets that didn’t go into the building. We then installed 3 new hopper heads and down pipes.
Our qualified operatives applied a 2mm torch on underlay felt followed by a 4.5mm black mineral torch on Capsheet.
We installed a black GRP roof trim to the roof and finished all edging details with the same mineral Capsheet.
This roofing system carries our standard 15 year manufacturers guarantee.
